M.Sc (Biotechnology)

The Department came in to existence in the year 2004. The Post graduate course in Biotechnology (MSc) at the Centre is approved by the University Grants Commission and affiliated to University of Mysore, Mysore. The MSc in Biotechnology course is a four semester full time course. The syllabus is well designed by the subject experts at University and has been implemented at the Post Graduate Centre accordingly.


The Department aims at offering societal relevance to innovative post graduate education, industry relevant training to create entrepreneurs of tomorrow encouraging basic and applied research. The Department has conducted many workshop and seminars for the benefit of students.

A dynamic and vision oriented teaching and non teaching staff are serving the Department. Eminent Professors and Scientists from UOM, CFTRI, DFRL and other research institutes are invited for special lectures. The students are also encouraged to take part in extra curricular activities.

Our students have won many intercollegiate essay, debate, music and extempore competitions held at various places in and around the city. Since the inception of the department, it has produced cent percent result with many distinctions to its credit.

The faculty and students are involved in research projects with publications in peer reviewed journals to their credit.

Department of Biotechnology shall strive to be recognized as a leader for offering societal relevant innovative Post Graduate education.

Eligibility:

Candidates with Bachelor's Degree in Science including Agricultural, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary, Dairy, Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry from any University recognized by UGC / ICAR / AICTE / Medical Council with an aggregate of minimum 55% marks. A relaxation of 5% is available for SC / ST and Cat. 1 candidate.
